Reds see Liddle home comfort

Two home defeats and eight goals conceded have put a dampener on Uxbridge’s recent good form, a hat-trick from visiting striker Adam Liddle is the headline, however The Reds will feel aggrieved at the margin of the scoreline at the hands of big-spending league leaders Farnham Town.

It was the home side who started the brighter in the opening exchanges, putting pressure on the Farnham goal, the warning signs were there though when Great Evans fired inches wide on 4 minutes and again on eight minutes later when the aforementioned Liddle seemed destined to score only for Josh Addae to get back and clear the ball at the last minute. As the half wore on both sides continued to create chances, with Wilson Chingoka shooting just over on 20 minutes. Three minutes later Ada Okorogheye did well to create space on the edge of the box, but he too shot over the bar. It was Farnham though who ended the half stronger and after another close call on 32 minutes, they did take the lead in the 39th minute, when a long-range shot was parried by stand in Reds keeper Callum Coulter, unfortunately Liddle was on hand to tuck home the loose ball. Uxbridge were well in the game, however that changed right on the break when some hesitant defending allowed Liddle in again and he made no mistake smashing the ball high past Coulter from a tight angle.

HT 0-2

Farnham took the initiative into the second half and could have added a third on a couple of occasions, only some wasteful finishing and last ditch defending from CJ Fearn and James Taylor keeping the score down. The home side kept going but were unable to break through a resolute Farnham back line – and it was no surprise a third goal did arrive, and no surprise it was Liddle who got it to complete his hat trick again latching on to a loose ball in the box on 67 minutes. On 74 minutes things went from bad to worse as Taylor deflected the ball past Coulter for the Reds second own goal in a week. The game then drifted towards 90 minutes, and in stoppage time Farnham did add a fifth when substitute Richie Mbele smashed home a loose ball after a shot was parried by Coulter.

All in all, an afternoon to forget for the home side, and they have  chance to quickly put things right when Binfield are the visitors to Honeycroft on Tuesday evening.
