Uxbridge put on a masterclass at Honeycroft, extending their unbeaten start to the season and cementing their place at the top of the Southern League Premier South with a ruthless 5-0 demolition of Chichester City on Saturday. The Lilywhites simply had no answer to the league leaders' attacking firepower, boosted by the arrival of Eddie Allsopp this week. The ex-Carshalton man made the starting eleven in place of Liam Prior-Tack. Luis Le Paih also made his first start in a red shirt, with Olu Akinode on the bench as Danny Edwards shuffled his pack due to injuries and an upcoming heavy match schedule.
The tone of the match was set just seven minutes in when an Uxbridge cross was cleared out to Troy Perez-Duah, who took the ball down superbly before pinging a fierce strike just over the bar. Although it looked like Max Evans in the Chichester goal tipped it over, the referee waved away the corner. Moments later, Ciaran Martin picked out debutant Allsopp, whose powerful near-post shot was well parried by the busy visiting shot-stopper. Allsopp was in the thick of the action again in the 14th minute, as he appeared to be grappled to the ground in the box as he attempted to shoot, but the appeals for a penalty fell on deaf ears.
The breakthrough finally came in the 29th minute. A clever short corner routine between Martin and Perez-Duah saw the latter deliver a delicious cross, allowing Alan Massey to rise above the defence and head home with Evans left completely stranded. Chichester threatened briefly in the 42nd minute when Harry Bridle out-jumped Martin, but he failed to connect with the header, and the ball went safely wide. Uxbridge punished them just two minutes later. Luis Le Paih showed great footwork to engineer space on the edge of the box before feeding the ball to George Moore, who calmly slotted home despite the keeper getting a hand to it, making it 2-0 at the break.

Chichester started the second half with plenty of possession but failed to trouble Sam Morris in the Uxbridge goal. The Reds soon wrested back complete control. In the 55th minute, a quick throw-in from Martin found Toby Nnadozie, who advanced and laid the ball off to Allsopp. The debutant cut inside and unleashed a beautiful curled effort, leaving Evans with no chance as the ball nestled in the far corner to make it 3-0. With Chichester coming into the game in excellent form, having won their last four matches, they were surprisingly lacklustre, and it was no surprise when, five minutes later, it was four. Allsopp was played in down the right-hand side, and his fizzed cross-shot beat the keeper, allowing Francis Amartey to apply the finishing touch, heading home from right under the bar.
Uxbridge refused to take their foot off the gas, with the lively Perez-Duah firing a shot just wide from distance, while Moore remained a constant menace, nearly scoring another when he blocked an Evans clearance only to watch the ball roll agonisingly wide. The five-star performance was completed in the 70th minute when Martin delivered a raking cross-field pass to Perez-Duah, who put over another pinpoint cross for Moore to rise emphatically and head home his second of the afternoon. With the game put to bed, Moore nearly had his hat-trick but curled a shot over the bar from the edge of the box on 79 minutes. Chichester had a rare break in the 81st minute, but Brandon Chebby fired well over when well placed, before the home side reasserted themselves as substitute Trevan Robinson broke at pace, dragging his shot just past the far post with the Chichester defence floundering again.
The sixth goal almost came on 85 minutes as Le Paih broke well to set up Jake Coomes in space, forcing Evans into a fine fingertip save. Prior-Tack then nearly caught the Chichester keeper out at the near post with a dangerous cross that almost sneaked in, but Evans just gathered the ball in time. As the clock ticked past ninety minutes into stoppage time, Morris was called into action twice—first handling a low shot from Olly Munt comfortably and then making a fine save from Chebby, who broke well into the box. There was time for Chichester to fashion two more chances, but Chebby again fired well over the crossbar before Morris saved the last shot of the match from Lawrence.
The result was never in doubt after the second goal went in, and it means Uxbridge travel to Berkhamsted on Tuesday evening top of the league and in fine form. They will need to be, as they are without a win at Berkhamsted since 2002, having been comfortably beaten 3-0 there last season. With confidence high, there is no better time to put that right.
