Gosport Borough 1-1 Uxbridge | Southern League Premier South

Saturday, August 15, 2026 | Attendance: 692

A second trip to Hampshire in four days, saw the Reds emerge with a hard fought point from their visit to Gosport. With the heatwave that has affected the UK, showing no signs of abating, both sides showed some signs of tiredness, and with the home side having parted ways with manager Simon Lane this week, Uxbridge may have thought Gosport would be there for the taking - this however was not the case. Uxbridge kept the same eleven that had triumphed at Havant in midweek, with only Josh Boorn missing out completely as Luis Le Paih took his place on the bench.

The first half was a fairly turgid affair with little chances of any note to report in the opening twenty minutes, Dino Kaiser was called upon to make a couple of routine saves, but they were comfortable enough for the on loan Fulham stopper. It took until 25 minutes for Uxbridge to make any meaningful in-roads when Ciaran Martin made a trademark break down the left hand side, but his low cross was unable to find a red shirt in the box.

The half sprang into life on forty minutes though, with both teams having good chances to break the deadlock. First it was Uxbridge, when George Moore did well to find space in the box, his fierce shot was well parried by Plumley in the Gosport goal, Toby Nnadozie was first to the rebound, but his follow up hit the bar and was cleared. Gosport nearly made them pay a minute later though, as they broke well and Jordan Ngalo forced Kaiser into a fine stop, with a rasping drive. However it finished all square at the break.

HT 0-0

Uxbridge looked to start the second half the brighter, with Troy Perez Duah firing over from a narrow angle early on. But it was the home side who took the lead on 46 minutes - a corner on the right was played short, Kris Campbell was allowed to travel with the ball, and a cross was whipped over to the far post where the ball was put in by Jerry Wiltshire - the first time Uxbridge’s defence had been breached this season. Uxbridge responded well though, on 51 minutes Francis Amartey broke clear and did well to hold off the defender, he fed Moore with a low cross, but Plumley was equal to Moore’s crisp low shot. Ten minutes later the same two players combined well, this time Moore setting up Amartey, but his goalbound effort was parried over the bar by Plumley.

However the equaliser was not far away, and it was well worth waiting for, Sam Deadfield was brought down on the edge of the box on 65 minutes, to give The Reds a free kick in a dangerous position. Olle McCoy stepped up and fired a curling shot into the top corner of the net leaving the wall & Plumley no chance at all - as good a free kick as you will see. The goals appeared to take the sting out of the match, as the remaining twenty minutes drifted by - the only chance of any note came in the 85 minute when ex-Red Frank Keita found some space at the back post from a cross, but could only shoot tamely into the side netting - something of a metaphor for the game as a whole maybe.

In the end seven points from the opening 3 matches, with two of those away from home is an excellent return leaving Uxbridge in second place in the league as we look to entertain Taunton Town next Saturday.
