We have reached the final stretch of the 2024/25 season. We still require another four points to be mathematically certain of a play-off place come the close of play on the 26 April. A scenario that seemed a pipedream after four games, when we languished fourth from bottom with just a single point. While our focus is on a top five finish our visitors on Saturday will be fighting hard to secure the three points to preserve their step four status. There are currently nine points from safety with only four games to play and with an inferior goal difference their task looks to be an uphill one. Having won five of our last six games we are second in the current form table behind Moneyfields (6/6). The Commoners have won two of their last six games (both against Horndean) and lie 15th in the table.
Last time out
Where to start. Our largest league win in forty years (Chertsey Town 11-0 1985). The afternoon began with some Uxbridge supporters suggesting a draw would be an acceptable result against play-off rivals Leatherhead. The same fans were chanting “we want ten” come 4:45pm as the rampant Reds ran riot over a shell-shocked Tanners side. The Commoners at the same time were keeping their survival hopes alive with a 1-0 home win against Horndean. Dan Pepple with the crucial goal.
Previously
Two Dan Fosu goals and a wonder strike from Dernell Wynter gave us all three points when we met at the War Memorial Sports Ground in February. This will be our eighth meeting with the Commoners and our record is an impressive one. Six wins and one draw, with seventeen goals for and one against.
The ones to watch!
Dan Pepple leads the way with nine league goals in twenty-eight appearances this season. The former Sporting Bengal United striker joined the club in October 2024 after staring for the East London side as they gained promotion from the Essex Senior League to the Isthmian League North Division in 2024.
