We travel to Prince George’s Playing Field on Saturday buoyed by our superb result at
Leatherhead on Tuesday. However, now is not the time to rest on our laurels as The Vale will certainly provide a stiff test as they themselves push to make the end of season play-offs.
They have won their last three league games, including victories over fellow play-off contenders Kingstonian and Hartley Wintney. They have recently changed the man at the helm, with the experienced Hayden Bird taking over from Josh Gallagher at the end of January. The Club were only formed 30-years ago when Raynes Park and Malden Vale merged. They won promotion to Step Four in 2023 as Champions of the Combined Counties Premier Division South, and last season – their first at this level – they missed out on a top five finish by one place.
Last time out
We were both in midweek action, and both teams gave their chances of making the top five a boost with victories over fellow promotion seeking rivals. Our hard fought 1-0 win at Fetcham Grove was certainly not good for the blood pressure. The Vale meanwhile scored two late goals to seal an impressive 3-0 victory over second place Kingstonian, in the Landlord versus Tenants match, at Prince George’s Playing Field.
Previously
This will be only our fourth meeting with The Vale, and so far, honours are even between us, one win each and a draw, with both side scoring six goals. A 96 th minute equaliser from Captain CJ Fearn earned us a share of the spoils back in January, in an enthralling 2-2 draw.
The one to watch!
Recent signing Trevan Piedade Robinson has been amongst the goals recently, scoring four in his last four appearances. The former Chertsey Town and Leatherhead striker was one of Hayden Bird’s first signings. He was a regular for Tonbridge Angels in the National League South this season before joining The Vale.
