Only eleven days will have passed since we travelled to Fetcham Grove to meet the
Tanners. How time flies! Undoubtedly, they will be out for revenge after our 1-0 win, and with games fast running out, they need all three points to keep their play-off ambitions alive. Our superb recent form has seen us climb to second in the table and the dream of a play-off place is agonisingly within touching distance.
Last time out
On paper, our visit to Raynes Park Vale looked like a very tricky proposition. However, the lads put in a terrific performance and could have won far more convincingly than the final 4-1 scoreline. George Moore scored his first goal since New Years Day to put us ahead, and we never looked back after that early strike. Leatherhead were involved in a local derby against Kingstonian, and in an eventful encounter, which saw the K’s equalise in the 93rd minute before The Tanners secured all three points with a winner in the 96th minute. The final score 3-2. The current form table, for the last ten games, shows both sides with identical records. Won seven, drawn one and lost two.

Massimo Giamattei’s first-half 20-yarder was the difference between the two sides at Fetcham Grove. Leatherhead will feel they had chances to take something from the game. None more so than when they were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute – at which point we were down to ten men, after Kai Hobbs had been shown two yellow cards – George Legg denied Kane Fitzgerald with a fantastic save and despite late intense pressure we held on for a valuable victory. We have met on thirty-five previous occasions – all of which have come in league encounters. This will be our twenty-fourth Isthmian League meeting – we currently hold the upper-hand with nine wins to eight.
The ones to watch
Alfie Huckle has played in all thirty-seven of Leatherhead’s league games. The midfielder followed Manager Ian Selley to Fetcham Grove from Westfield – where he was the Players Player of the Season as they reached
