The last time Uxbridge made the play-offs the country was preparing itself to host the summer Olympics. No! not 1908 or 1948. In 2012 we finished fourth in the league, before losing narrowly 1-2 at Bedworth United in the semi-final. We also qualified for the play-offs in 2005 and 2008, without success. Fourth time lucky? This will also be The K’s fourth foray into the end of season play-offs, having reached the Isthmian League Premier Division equivalent in 2004, 2010 and 2014. Scott Harris, the former Walton & Hersham Manager, took over the reins this season, following The K’s relegation last term. He has play-off experience having guided his former club to victories over Northwood and Hanworth Villa in 2023.
Last time out
We completed our campaign with a hard fought 1-0 victory at Westfield on Saturday. Dernell Wynter with his sixth goal of the season giving us all three points. Kingstonian were in action, in a potential “winner takes all” encounter, against Ascot United. However, with Hayes & Yeading United failing to win at South Park (Reigate), a 2-2 draw was enough for both sides to finish inside the top five.
Previously
A win apiece was the result of our meetings in the league. The K’s winning 3-0, at home, on the opening day of the season, while we gained revenge with a 2-1 victory over the Christmas period. George Moore and Ada Okorogheye on target for The Reds. This will be our seventeenth meeting, with the majority of these coming in pre-war Athenian League action. Kingstonian winning nine of those twelve encounters. We have also crossed paths in the FA Cup and FA Trophy. Once again, The K’s came out on top, winning both ties.
The ones to watch!
Eddie Simon. Do I have to say anymore. The League’s top scorer with thirty-four goals in thirty-nine appearances. Eddie scored in both games against us this season on his way to this total. The K’s have already held their end of the season awards, and attacking midfielder Stan Flaherty was announced as the Managers Player of The Season.
