Uxbridge put in an outstanding performance to see off Hanworth Villa on Tuesday evening. Villa came into the match having won their previous two matches, but were soon on the back foot as The Reds took the game to them from the off – Ada Okorogheye had already had a shot well saved by visiting keeper Mark Smith, when D’Andre Brown played a superb pass into George Moore, who cooly rounded the keeper and finish to give Uxbridge a well-deserved lead on 15 mins.
Hanworth almost drew level on 20 minutes when a fine long-range effort from Theo Crawford was kept out by George Legg at full stretch.
Josh Addae continued his fine recent form and saw his shot go narrowly over as The Red continued to control the game – George Moore could have had a late hat trick, but some wayward finishing and more great goalkeeping kept the score to just the one goal at the break.
HT 1-0
The second half had barely begun when Smith in the Hanworth goal was called on again to deny Uxbridge debutant Scott Armsworth a goal – with another good save low down.
As the half wore on Uxbridge created plenty more chances, with both Okorogheye and the always lively Wilson Chingoka denied by a combination of last ditch defending and yet more good saves from Smith. When George Moore shot wide again on 67 minutes it was beginning to look like the second goal would never come – however it did finally arrive on 82 minutes when Josh Addae once again did great work to get in a cross and Okorogheye was on hand to tuck the ball in at the far post.
There was still time for Uxbridge to spurn two more chances – before Hanworth denied the Reds a fourth clean sheet in a row when Finlay McNab headed home a late free kick with virtually the last kick of the match.
