The season is over and we, like every other club at our level are now in limbo!
With the addition of two new divisions and the Football Association reducing all leagues to a maximum of 20 teams everyone is waiting on tenter-hooks to see if they will remain where they finished the season or, will they be moved across the pyramid. The only given is Arlesey Town were relegated to Step 5 and will be playing, probably in the Spartan South Midlands League next season.
When the Chairman of the Southern Football League visited Honeycroft a few weeks ago he explained the whole situation was still very fluid, we expressed we did not mind where we sat as long as the travelling costs were reduced. He explained the final decision will be made on or about the 11th May but, obviously there will be a number of clubs unhappy which will result in formal appeals to the Football Association, once these have been settled the AGM's will take place and everything will be ratified.
The board would like to thank all our supporters for turning up every weekend to cheer on the First and Reserve sides as well as coming down midweek to support our Youth Team. We would also like to thank Tony, Dennis and Steve along with their staff for all the hard work put in this season. Lastly we would also like to give a big thank you to Geoff, Averill and all their staff for the facilities we enjoy every week.
There will be further updates as to our pre-season fixtures along with which league our club will be placed in next season over the coming weeks, please keep an eye on the website.
Enjoy the summer, enjoy the FIFA World Cup and we look forward to seeing you all back and raring to go soon.
