On Saturday 15th September we welcome The Blues from Ware FC to Honeycroft for our next Bostik League installment.
This will be our 15th meeting of the two clubs that started in 1970 when Ware won 4-0 in the East Anglian Cup, Our last meeting was in the 2015/16 Southern League where Uxbridge ran out 3-1 victors. The full record to date is - Played 14 Won 8 Lost 5 and Drawn 1, our biggest loss came in the 1970 East Anglian Cup when we were beaten 4-0, our biggest win came in the 1984 Isthmian League with a 5-2 success at Honeycroft, our goals that day came from Dixon (2), Marshall (Pen), Duff and Church.
Ware have started the season with with one win, two losses and one draw in the League, they have progressed to the Velocity Trophy 2nd Round by beating Romford on penalties and Chalfont St Peter, they now travel to Enfield Town. In the Emirates FA Challenge Cup they beat FC Clapton 4-2 in the Preliminary Round but went out of the competition when beaten 1-0 by Lowestoft.
Ware have a new man at the helm after the resignation of John Dreyer. Just prior to Ware's 4-2 FA Cup win at FC Clacton, club officials were stunned to learn that they'd need to find a new manager, as John Dreyer advised them that he was stepping down. John, who cited the need to give more time to family and business commitments, took over in January after Craig Edwards jumped ship to join Cheshunt, steering the side from turmoil to safety.
Management responsibilities are now in the hands of Paul Halsey who will have former Ware players Jon Stevenson, Michael Bardle and recently signed John Frendo as his management team.
